Natural Health and Wellbeing
Spending time in the natural environment allows a space to slow down and reconnect to the part of ourselves that has been neglected in our busy, tech driven world.Through immersion of the senses, in a safe supported environment , a more grounded way of being with ourselves, the natural environment and each other as humans can be found, to promote physical health and mental wellbeing. We support participants to grow familiarity with nature, through The 5 Pathways to Nature Connection
- Contact -The art of engaging with nature through the senses for pleasure away from utilisation and identification e.g. Listening to birdsong, smelling wildflowers, watching reflections on water or shadows moving.
- Beauty- Engaging with aesthetic qualities of nature e.g engaging with nature through the arts/ natural found objects
- Meaning-Using nature in language and metaphor to consider what nature means on a personal level/ in life.
- Emotion-How is the natural environment supporting us e.g Noticing the things in nature that bring wonder and joy.
- Compassion-Extending the self to include nature, promoting pro nature behaviour and membership to the wider nature community.
“Just being surrounded by bountiful nature, rejuvenates and inspires us.“
Edward O Wilson
